The Journey - so far.....

Please check out my: Youtube videos and a Substack Page where I explore the deeper aspects of spiritual awakening and do my darndest to dispel the many myths of spirituality, and Native American traditional spirituality in particular.

I have hesitated to recount my life journey, only to discover all kinds of strange distortions and misunderstandings are being propagated - so let me offer some clarity, as well as honour the wonderful teachers who gave me the incredible gift of spiritual awakening. I expand on these gifts in my videos and my substack offerings..

MY JOURNEY and my writing: - I have been deeply immersed in spiritual concepts since childhood. My first series of books: The Shaman's Door focused on my spiritual training I experienced with Native American indigenous people back in the 1980s.

I qualified as a journalist in Canada (I am a Canadian citizen) and took a job with a Native American newspaper. My job was to travel to the various Native American reservations and file stories, take photos (in black and white!) process the film and type up the stories (using a typewriter, carbon paper etc) It was an amazing time as I attended many ceremonies and received profound teachings. Yet I also saw the seedy side of Native people - because like all people there are good and bad.

My journey culminated with a powerful vision, as I sat in a cave within the Rocky Mountains of southern Alberta. A totem animal spirit gave me "medicine" which, according to my teacher Joe Crowshoe, meant I was to teach. It is this vision that has guided my writing and art ever since. I honour all my teachers, and there were many, but the tradition is not to mention those who have passed on. Joe Crowshoe (see image below) gave me permission to use his name and image.

I arrived in Australia in 1990 to follow that vision. I put up a poster in a local hall in the Dandenong Ranges of Victoria, and was amazed when close to seventy people turned up, keen to learn more! One of them was Doug Osborne, who owned a Spiritual Centre in Monbulk called Rosedale. (See middle image)  He invited me to run the teaching circles there which were well attended -  please see photo below of one gathering. We also made hand-drums with the first workshop in 1991.

I later purchased land (see top photo) where we held teachings, sweat lodge ceremonies and Vision Quest ceremonies. I also ran three shops where I sold traditionally made Native hand-crafts, including blankets and traditional jewellery. I also taught traditional beadwork. I began to share my artwork and several paintings sold in Melbourne galleries. I also offered the art at various local expos.

They were wonderful days, but I felt urged to share the wisdom with a wider audience, and this was the beginning of my book writing. Writing is easy for me, because of my journalism background. My first book was published in 1993 and since then all the others have flowed through.

My Insights: I began to see spiritual energies in childhood, but only when I sat with Native American Elders did it truly awaken within. I learned and experienced profound personal knowing about the spirit world - and the Native perspective that Animal or totem spirits are in fact more spiritually evolved than we "two legged ones" - in addition I learned that Native people, very much like Australian Aboriginal people, do not commune with the deceased but encourage them to pass on to other worlds.

Today I use those skills and my organic clairvoyant abilities to focus on art-sessions where I draw your energies - including Totem Animal spirits and so much more.  I "see" an Aura of energy and colour around every person and every living being! Within your aura, standing slightly behind you, are your Spirit Guides, Spiritual Guardians and Angels.  On the outer edge of your aura I see Animal Spirit Guides. These energies are often called Totems from the Native American Indian word for friend. I also see Energy Centres, known as Chakras from the Sanskrit word which means wheel.
The journey of sharing my "medicine" continues through my books * Videos * Substack writings **
